The summit is a perfect time to discover the unique opportunities that the 28th HENAAC Conference and Great Minds in STEM have to offer your organization. This event offers an outstanding opportunity for Conference sponsors to gather and select the annual award winners, finalize conference participation, engage with other sponsors, and find out the latest programs taking place within the entire Great Minds in STEM™ organization. In addition to these activities, the summit includes a meeting of the GMiS Board of Directors and a training for college student Delegates.
Key activities include:
Each year representatives comprised of conference sponsors, academicians, past honorees, and sister organizations come together to review the HENAAC Award nominations. The committee requires the commitment of a full day of revision and scoring of candidates as well as thoughtful debate, discussion and dialogue. Rankings are tallied and then presented to the Selection Committee Chairs - Deans of the science and engineering schools from the universities serving as Academic Hosts - for final review and certification.
Conference Planning Committee
This committee has the opportunity to preview the HENAAC Conference from start to finish. It is a six to eight hour meeting where operations are reviewed and questions are asked and answered. Because Pasadena is a new conference locations, GMiS in conjunction with the city will conduct tours of the various hotels and facilities scheduled for use during the conference. It is highly encouraged that Sponsors send representatives to this event to begin working on individual conference space selection.
This is an ideal time to schedule special meetings with GMiS staff members. Large organizations like the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy have used the Summit to bring their multiple divisions together to share best practices and common goals for the conference in October. Special meetings need to be requested at least 45 days in advance.
