28th Annual HENAAC Conference

The 28th HENAAC Conference powered by Great Minds in STEM and in association with MAES- Latinos in Science and Engineering and CAHSI – Computing Alliance of Hispanic-Serving Institutions took place in Anaheim, CA from October 5-9, 2016.

GMiS was able to showcase “Excellence Through Diversity” convening over 3,000 individuals from all sectors of science, computing, engineering and math within academia, government, military and corporate America. In a first-of-its-kind, unprecedented orchestration of three sister organizations, the HENAAC Conference proudly hosted top executives, senior management, recruiters, college students, faculty and administrators, as well as middle school and high school students, teachers, and administrators. The HENAAC Conference drew a diversity of high caliber STEM students, from a broad array of institutions, as the conference continues to be a competitive recruiting forum for STEM diversity.

Pre-college students and K-12 educators experienced motivational sessions and hands-on STEM workshops. College students were able to once again participate in technical tours. These students and along with professional attendees also took part in technical and professional development seminars, an energetic Speed Networking Breakfast, the Career and Graduate School Fair, the MAES Intern Tournament and Decathlon, the CAHSI Hackathon, MentorNet Mentoring ,Sessions, the HENAAC College Bowl and the Research Papers and Posters Competition. GMiS also awarded over $618,424 student travel, registration, awards, as ell as scholarships to HENAAC Scholars for their academic achievements and leadership.
